Glass Blown Wind-chimes
There is this one temple in Nara, called Ofusa Kannon, that has a large Furin Festival that goes all summer long. They display thousands of different blown glass styles as well as temple or pagoda styles. We visited there and were astounded by the different varieties. Miana, our beautiful 1 year old, was enthralled with the sites and sounds and wanted to touch everything. Fortunately, she found a statue of the temple deity she could pet for awhile:
The Ofusa Kannon Temple that holds the Furin Festival decorates their large rose garden, which is both an exhibition and a sort of flea market. There were many people there buying these quaint Japanese gifts for their friends, family, and their home also.
Some of them can be quite expensive, even getting close to $100 for some of the ones made from nice pottery. However, the general range was from $10 to $50. Since the Edo period, Japan has used this little garden ornament to ease their way through the intensely hot summers. Visually and aurally you are made aware of a soft breeze blowing. These wind chimes as a Japanese gift for someone would be a unique and stylish way to surprise someone. They would also make a great addition to your serene space.
